Overnight trips to Battleship Island, officially known as Hashima or Gunkanjima, flourished as a coal mining community starting in 1890. The coal mine closed in 1974 and the island has been deserted since then. The island is now a World Heritage site, and it is also a popular tourist attraction.

Cancellation Policy
- Participants are required to follow MCAS Iwakuni Travel Guidelines for Nagasaki Prefecture.
- If the minimum number of guests needed for this tour (15) is not reached by APR 25, the tour will be canceled, and money will be refunded.
- If guest cancellation is made on or before MAY 2, there is a $5 cancellation fee per person.
- If guest cancellation is made between MAY 3 and MAY 17, there is a one-night hotel fee, ferry fee, and $5 per person as a cancellation fee.
- If guest cancellation is made on or after MAY 18, there is no refund.
