The MCAS Iwakuni Education Office offers a range of military classification testing. We can also proctor exams if needed for your college classes. The National Testing Center operated by UMGC offers CLEP, DSST, GMAT, GRE, and Pearson Vue certification exams.

 

Pre-registration is required for all tests. Please reach out to the Education Services Office to schedule and ensure all pre-testing requirements and eligibility are met. If contacting the Education Office by email about testing, please include the name of the test in the subject line.

AFCT (Armed Forces Classification Test)
2nd Wednesday of the month

This in-service equivalent of the ASVAB measures aptitude and abilities necessary for a Marine’s or Sailor’s successful performance on the job and during formal school training. Members taking this test are interested in qualifying for officer programs or a lateral MOS move. Marines need a command approval letter to sit for the exam.

Navy Procedures for Taking the Exam

DLPT (Defense Language Proficiency Test)
1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month

This exam is designed to determine proficiency in a specific foreign language. College credit may be recommended based on the level of proficiency. Specialized language testing can be requested if computer-based exams are not available.

DLAB (Defense Language Aptitude Battery)
4th Wednesday of the month

This exam is designed to aid in the selection of personnel for language school training. Measures an individual’s aptitude to learn a new language.

ASTB (Aviation Selection Test Battery)
ASTB/OAR testing upon request/availability

This exam is used in the selection process for all Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviation programs and other select officer programs and can take up to four hours to complete. The OAR (a portion of the ASTB) is also available.

The NTC at MCAS Iwakuni is operated by the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and offers CLEP, DSST, GMAT, GRE, and Pearson Vue certification exams. Please contact them directly to schedule an exam or with any questions.

CLEP and DSST exams are a great way to save time and money and get you closer to earning your college degree. Check with your college for information on how many credits/which tests they may accept to go toward your degree. Pearson VUE
Thursdays | 9 AM - 1 PM

GRE/GMAT exams may be required for admission into graduate programs. As a Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center, the NTC can also administer a wide variety of exams including, but not limited to, financial management exams, medical certifications, information technology/cybersecurity exams, and more.
