MCCS College and Trades Education Summit

MCCS College and Trades Education Summit
Over 600 Marines, Sailors and family members attended the MCCS College and Trades Education Summit presented by ECU held Thursday, September 21.

Over sixty colleges, universities, and trade schools were present to answer questions about their institution and services they offer.

“The MCCS Education Assistance Branch is always looking for ways to provide more customer service to the Camp Lejeune- New River community. Due to the uniqueness of this location (CL-NR), it is challenging to find suitable programs that don’t require some type of traveling to get there,” said Peter Harris, MCCS Education Assistance Branch Supervisory Education Services Specialist.

“I was not sure what I wanted to do after my career in the Marine Corps,” said Sgt. T. Johnson, an event attendee. “Many of us were just out of high school when we joined the Marines. We don’t know what’s next. I learned a lot about options and what I may want to do after my military career,” said Sgt. Johnson.

Another attendee added, “I am going to get out in a few years and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I saw this and thought it was great way to get the information I needed in one location. This will be very helpful in making my decision as to what I want to do in the future. That takes a lot of stress off. Now I just need to decide.”

“I have been doing these type of events for years and it never gets old when you see a servicemember get or start what they have been striving for. The impossible is possible to achieve,” said Harris.
