Aquatics Tsunami Swim Team is available to athletes ages 5-18 for the Fall Season, from August 24 - November 19, at the IronWorks South Gym Indoor Pool. Join the swim team to enhance technical skills, foster social development, and embrace an active lifestyle.

Athletes are required to pass a swim test and evaluations before joining the team. These include demonstrating a full, proper 50-meter freestyle and a minimum of 25 meters of backstroke. Evaluations will take place from August 24-27 at 4-5 PM. Swim evaluations are drop-in. (Please note that meeting the minimum requirements makes swimmers eligible for the team, but it does not guarantee a spot due to the limited availability of volunteer coaches.)

Swim meets will be on October 24 at Sasebo Naval Base and on November 14 at MCAS Iwakuni. 

Team Categories:

• Yellow - Intermediate 1
• Blue - Intermediate 2
• Black - Advanced

Practice Schedule:

• Blue & Black - 3:30-4:45 PM | Mon - Thu
• Yellow - 4:45-5:30 PM | Mon - Thu

Late Entry

Latecomers are welcome to join the swim team.

Volunteer Coaches Needed

If you are interested in coaching, Aquatics is looking for swim coaches. Please email  OMBIwakuni.Aquatics@usmc-mccs.org to receive a volunteer application. Aquatics will provide an LOA after the season.

Swim Team By-Laws:

Tsunami Swim Team By-Laws will be distributed once the athletes have been assigned to their respective team categories.

Swim Attire:

• Swim Team attire is available for purchase at the swim outlet store: https://www.swimoutlet.com/collections/iwakunitsunami
• Athletes must bring their own practice swimsuit and goggles.
• Aquatics will issue a Tsunami swim cap and meet swimsuit for competitions.

Registration

• Registration is open from August 24 at 4 PM.
• Athletes MUST pass their swim evaluation before being able to officially register.
• Patrons will receive the registration access code from Aquatics staff after passing their evaluation. 
• Open to all base personnel, ages 5-18
• Cost: ​$100 per athlete
