3D Modeling & Printing Club

The 3D Modeling & Printing Club allows tweens and younger teen patrons to enjoy beginner-level 3D printing demonstrations, collaborative projects, design challenges, and freestyle design time.

• The club meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 4-5:30 PM at the Library
• Makerspace and Internet Agreements must be on file before program participation.
• Limited to 5 patrons
• Ages 10-15 years old

Terms of Participation

• Patrons must be valid MCCS Iwakuni Library cardholders with accounts in good standing.
• Junior 3D Club uses online modeling software, and all patrons require signed Internet & Makerspace agreements before participation. Contact the Library if you need to sign agreements.
• Patrons must understand that participation in this activity involves a risk of accident and personal injury.
• Patrons must be at least 6 years old to be in the Makerspace.
• Only MCCS Iwakuni Library computers may be connected to Library 3D printers and external devices are not authorized for use in the Library.
• MCCS Iwakuni Library is not responsible for personal property or files.
• Covered drinks are welcome in the Makerspace. Food is not permitted.
• If you can no longer attend Junior 3D Club after you have registered, please contact the Library to cancel your reservation.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read 1,000 books with your child before they start Kindergarten. Track titles to earn a tote and buttons.

Adult Writing Club

The Adult Writing Club provides constructive feedback to all writing levels in an informal and supportive environment. All genres are welcome, whether it’s nonfiction, fiction, or poetry.

Meetings include discussions on topics such as publishing and finding inspiration while writing exercises and free talk help you become more comfortable discussing your work and encourage constructive criticism. Bring in a piece of writing every month, whether it’s a poem, blog article, short story, or anything else you have written or are currently writing.

Baby & Me

Baby & Me is a lap-sit storytime for newborns up through early walkers. The focus is on rhymes, songs, sensory play, and exploring short books together. This is meant to develop their language and early literacy skills, encourage interaction between caregivers and babies, and allow parents to connect and discuss various parenting topics and concerns.

Book Bingo

Adults can encourage themselves to read more genres throughout the year by using a Book Bingo board to track reads and enter quarterly giveaway drawings. Visit the Library to learn more about how to participate.

Chess Club

The Library’s Chess Club is intended for beginner and intermediate participants interested in learning chess rules, tactics, and strategies. The first 30 minutes may focus on instruction and the rest of the program will allow for free play time. The Library provides all materials for the program, but participants are welcome to bring their own chess equipment.

• Registration opens the first day of each month and closes the Thursday before the 3rd Friday.
• If you can no longer attend Chess Club after you have registered, please contact the Library to cancel your reservation.
• Limited to 20 participants.
• Ages 10 and older.
• Participants must be willing to partner with players of different ages, genders, and skill levels.
• Unaccompanied minors must have a dependent ID.

Crafternoon Sew-cial Club

Crafternoon Sew-cial Club brings teens and adults together to explore different disciplines of crafting using the library's available e-resources and physical materials. Each month will focus on a different medium to encourage exploration and projects will take inspiration from various literature. Materials will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Early Literacy Storytime

Early Literacy Storytime is a fun opportunity for your preschooler to listen to stories, participate in crafts and activities, and engage with other children for 45-60 minutes. Participation is a great way to start preparing them for kindergarten.

Little Scientists

Little Scientists provides your littles an opportunity to learn through exploration and experimentation. Built on the principles of STEM, Little Scientists will encourage children to build, mix, and pour their way into discovering how the world works. Join us on the first Wednesday of every month for this exciting learning adventure!

Maker Workshop

The Maker Workshop is a program where Library patrons can gather to create and invent, tinker and explore, and discover new things using a variety of Makerspace equipment and craft materials. The program mainly focuses on STEM/STEAM activities, often with crafty elements. What is STEM/STEAM? Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics!

Toddler Tales

Bring your little one to Toddler Tales, a collaborative event by the New Parent Support Program and the Library. This program aims to encourage early literacy skills and support new parents in guiding their child's development process. Children will participate in Storytime, songs, and play activities while also learning critical developmental skills like communication and emotional management.

United Through Reading

Record yourself reading a book to share with your child while you are away from home. We provide a cozy space, recording equipment, and a large selection of free books that you can choose from to send to your child. This program is available to servicemembers who are deployed or are preparing for deployment. The experience of reading aloud together eases the stress of separation, encourages literacy, and bridges the distance for families until the servicemember returns home.
